Michigan averages 15 tornadoes a year. In preparation for this, Michigan Residents are urged to take part in the annual statewide tornado drill tomorrow (3/23/2022). The voluntary severe weather drill is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. While some areas elect to opt out, tornado sirens will still be heard in many jurisdictions across Michigan.
It is recommended by the Michigan State Police that people keep an emergency preparedness kit on hand with a three-day supply of water and food, a weather radio, important family documents, medication and anything critical for survival.
It is also important to know the difference between a Tornado Watch and Warning. A Watch means that conditions are right for a tornadoes to develop and a Warning means a tornado has actually been seen in person or on radar.
