May 9th is the deadline for auto insurance companies to complete the refund payments to Michigan residents who had at least one vehicle insured as of October 31st, 2021. The $400 per insured vehicle refunds are part of the 2019 auto insurance reforms and about two-thirds of the payments have been issued.
If you have not received your refund yet, keep an eye on your bank accounts and mail. The refunds are being issued in the form of direct deposits and checks, depending on how you’ve paid your insurance bills. The refunds are automatic, and be wary of anyone claiming to need your information as there are potential scammers seeking to capitalize on the refunds. If you have questions about your refund, contact your insurance company directly.
