GENESEE TOWNSHIP- Just weeks after the death of the late Genesee Township Richard Doc Burrus, the existing board is tasked with an appointment.
Nine Genesee Township residents have submitted the necessary paperwork to become township trustee after the death in office.
The following candidates are:
The board will meet on Tuesday, May 9, at 6pm at Genesee Township Hall to vote on the appointment. If the board fails to fill the vacant seat in 30 days, it goes to a special election.
If one of the nine are appointed, they will have to run next year on the ballot in which a crowded field of candidates will fight it out.
This is the second opening for Trustee within the past year. Patrick Gerace was recently appointed and will have to run as well.
No one appointed can run as “Re-Elect” since they were never elected by the voters.
