GENESEE COUNTY- The Genesee Intermediate School District has a vacancy on the board due to the death of the late Honorable Judge John L. Conover.
Two applicants have come forward to seek the appointment: David Lossing and Salvatore Ausiello.
Lossing, the former mayor of Linden, ran for state representative and the Mott Community College Board unsuccessfully. He is an active member of the Genesee County Democratic Party.
Ausiello, a current member of the Flushing school board currently serves as Vice President. He is also heavily involved in the school board community serving on the county board association.
The GISD board of Richard E. Hill, Janis Bugbee, Larry Ford and DesRae A. Joubran will vote April 5th at 5pm on the appointment. The board will hear public comments at the start of the meeting at 5pm.
The board meeting will take place at the Erwin L. Davis Education Center 2413 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Michigan Legacy Auditorium.
According to the GISD website: “The Genesee Intermediate Board of Education is comprised of five individuals elected to serve six-year terms. The body that elects intermediate school district board members consists of one member delegate from the board of education in each of the 21 constituent school districts. The election for intermediate school district board members is held the first Monday in May of alternate years.”
The seat up for grabs will be up for election in June of 2023.
