CLIO- Just after mounting a campaign less than a year ago, Laurie Heath has resigned from the Clio Board of Education.
Heath campaigned as a write-in candidate in 2022, after failing to file with the Genesee County Clerk’s office for on the ballot.
She then ran uncontested on a slate with Rachel Florence-Spaetzel. While Heath ran with no competition, her running mate lost to newcomer,
Dianne E. Cotter.
Residents on Facebook took to the community pages blasting Heath for her resignation and quitting on the district, just months after asking for their votes.
It is unclear as to why she resigned as the public never received an explanation.
Her vacant seat was filled by Robert Love Jr, the son to current Clio Board Member, Robert Love Sr.
As for Heath, it is unclear if she plans to release a full statement to the public on the reasoning.
Heath is an employee of Davison Community Schools and a member of the Democratic Party.
