After major mask protests outside of Fenton Highschool and other places around Genesee County, the health department is trying to bring some transparency on the mask mandates. The first mandate only applied to students from kindergarten to 6th grade. It was then expanded to include 7th through 12th graders. Officials also further defined what educational settings that the mandate includes. Including youth camps, child care centers, and school board meetings.
All individuals in these settings are mandated to wear masks, including students, parents, staff, attendees, and school board members. The only few exceptions are when people are eating and drinking, children under the age of 4, and children with certain medical conditions. Students can get medical wavier from their physician.
