Three companies are being considered to handle trash collection in Flint: Priority Waste, Waste Management, and Green for Life Environmental. The meeting on Wednesday will aim for entering a contract with Priority Waste. Republic Services will no longer work with the city once it’s 90-day contract extension ends.
One Flint City council member believes this is because of a toxic relationship between the company and a few council members.
“Regardless of the few issues we had with them, I think constituents are going to be a lot angrier when their taxes go up by quite a bit in this case,” said councilwoman Eva Worthing.
