CLIO- There’s nothing like a Father and Son bond, right?
For Robert Love Sr. and Robert Love Jr. that bond includes serving on the Clio Board of Education, and at the same time.
Robert Love Sr. was elected by voters to serve on the board. His son just applied for the recent vacancy by Laurie Heath.
Multiple people applied for the appointment last week, but Robert Love Jr. received the appointment.
Robert Love Sr. voted for his son at the board meeting.
Both Loves’ now serve on the Clio Area Board of Education, one elected and one appointed.
Some residents have expressed support and concern on social media.
Nicole Snyder writes: “I feel as if with all of the people in the Clio community, we could’ve appointed someone that is not related to an existing board member. That is a major conflict of interest”
While Brian Walker praised the selection saying “if the shoe fits, he should serve.”
Laurie Heath ran as a write-in for the said position last year. She failed to file for her seat and missed the ballot. She then ran as a write in.
Both Loves’ will have to answer to voters and appear on the ballot in the 2024 election for the Clio Board of Education.
The School District attorney could not be reached for comment on the claims of conflict of interest.
