Even after a year into the pandemic, when life is slowly starting to return to normal, businesses continue to suffer. Bay City locals who enjoyed the City Market are saddened to see the building now for sale.
The store opened four years ago but has recently only pulled in a third of it’s break-even cost. Surrounding businesses, such as Tex-Mex and holistic health store Oily Apothecary, hope that the building’s sale won’t hurt their business.
“It is what it is,” General Manager Margie Brown said. “The owners have done everything and then some to try and keep it afloat over the years.”
The City Market building is more than 10,000 SF and was listed for $4.5 million.
