BURTON- Duane Haskins, current Mayor of the City of Burton, is seeking re-election this year. His entire campaign thus far is built on endorsements from local Liberal Democrats.
Although the office of Burton Mayor is non-partisan, Haskins has made his entire campaign about Democrat endorsements—with no place for Republicans.
Local Liberal- Democrats in the area such as Sheriff Christopher Swanson, Prosecutor David Leyton, County Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg, State Representative Tim Sneller, and Councilmen Greg Hull, Greg Fenner have endorsed Mayor Haskins.
These individuals have been known to disavow, and smear Republicans because of their support for President Donald J. Trump.
It turns out, Mayor Duane Haskins endorsed Donald Trump in 2016, according to his own Facebook posts.

So what is going on here?
Is Mayor Haskins playing both sides to get re-elected?
Is Mayor Haskins a Democrat or Republican?
Could it be that the Mayor is using Democrat endorsements to pander to a certain group?
Are the “Democrats” endorsing the Mayor also Trump supporters?
Do they know about these screenshots? If so, why are they working so hard to stop Trump supporters in Genesee County?

The Genesee County Democratic Party could not be reached for a comment.
The Truth: Duane Haskins is a Trump Supporter and is running his campaign as a fake Democrat to win an election.

Sarah Collins, a Burton Democrat tells the Genesee Journal that she voted for Haskins in 2019 because of his heavy Democratic support.
“Mayor Haskins knocked on my Grandmothers door in 2019. He knew they were Union Democrats and told them he is a strong Democrat that opposes Trump. Come to find out, he lied to her just to get a vote”.

Anne Redmond, a former Burton City Council candidate who ran on “Make Burton Great Again” tells a different story.
According to Redmond, she was told by Duane Haskins that he supported Donald Trump at her door. Did the Mayor tell her this to get a sign in her yard?
Three years after Redmond’s encounter with the Mayor, she ran for City Council herself. Her slogan? Make Burton Great Again. The Mayor and his supporters mocked Redmond for her support of Trump.
Why? The Mayor openly supported Donald Trump too but no one caught the public Facebook posts.
The bottom line: The Office of Burton Mayor is not about supporting one party or the other, but is about being honest. Residents expect to be told the truth and not be used for votes.

Also, the bashing of someone for their support of Trump needs to stop, especially if you are a closet Trump supporter yourself.
All of these screenshots are available on Mayor Haskins public Facebook profile by searching “Duane Haskins” on Facebook.
The endorsements of the local Democrats can be found on his campaign page: Elect Duane Haskins.
It is unknown if the local Democrats that have endorsed Duane Haskins will pull their endorsements.
Now the Mayor risks losing both sides of the political aisle as residents feel deceived and betrayed.
