FLINT MI- The newly elected Mott Community College Board of Trustees has implemented Prayer and the Pledge of allegiance at the start of every board meeting.
The vote comes after Wendy Wolcott of Davison Township and Jeffery Swanson of Genesee Township were elected in 2022, flipping the board, 4-3.
Wolcott, the first place winner, ousted incumbent board chair Anne Figueroa, securing nearly 76,000 votes respectively for a six year term.
Swanson joins the board for a two year term defeating former Mott Community College staff member Rebecca Garske with nearly 46,000 votes.
Board Secretary Wendy Wolcott requested that the addition of the Pledge be placed on the agenda and flags be displayed in the boardroom. Prior to the request, flags were not displayed nor was the pledge recited.
Fast forward to the next meeting, the board made an additional request that each meeting would start with a prayer.
Board chairman Andy Everman suggested that each month a different type of religion could recite a prayer. Secretary Wolcott had suggested that each month the board members would pick a pastor of their choice.
The changes being made have created quite the buzz during public comment as ‘concerned pastors’ have claimed they are “hearing voices of change they don’t like”.
Others in the community are happy to see the values of the country and community alike restored to the college.

Genesee County resident Connie Green submitted a public comment that reads: “For years, the radical left have controlled and indoctrinated Mott College both in the boardroom and classroom. I am happy to see that the board has flipped and Freedom is ringing on campus. I applaud Andy Everman, Janet Couch, Wendy Wolcott and Jeffery Swanson for all they do.”
The newly elected board also swept the positions of officers with the following votes:
Andy Everman, Chairman (4-3)
Janet Couch, Vice Chairman (4-3)
Wendy Wolcott, Secretary (7-0)
Jeffery Swanson, Treasurer (4-3)
The next election for Mott Community College is November of 2024.
Can I assume the board will also be recruiting non-Christians (Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Rastafarians, Jainists, Satanists and atheists, etc.) to offer invocations so as not to run afoul of the First Amendment?
As a former MCC student, I applaud the board for adding prayer and the Pledge to the meeting agenda. It is right to pledge our allegiance to our country and to acknowledge our dependence on an almighty God for wisdom to teach our students.
Congratulations for leading the way! This kind of courage will turn our country around.
Amen!
What happened to the separation of church and state?
What a milestone!! God Bless you and the other board members who made this happen!!
