Next week marks a special opportunity to appreciate law enforcement officers across Michigan.
The Michigan House approved a resolution on Tuesday which made May 9 to 15 as an annual police week for the state. Michigan currently has around 17,000 full time police officers, a small part of the reported 800,00 nationwide. 264 died in the line of duty across the US in 2020.
“Whether responding to pandemic emergencies or helping ensure protests stayed safe and peaceful, Michigan law enforcement answered the call of duty each and every time without hesitation,” said State Rep. Andrew Beeler of Port Huron.
