Flint residents struggling with high water bills have received a helping hand from the Great Lakes Water Authority. The Board of Directors transferred $1.5 million into the WRAP program, expanding eligibility and assistance levels by providing bill credits as well as minor plumbing repairs to reduce water use for households in need. Funds were taken from unspent money allotted for 7 neighboring counties, allowing them to benefit too! As part of this effort, Flint’s WRAP will adjust its aid amounts based on income level so that recipients are only required to pay 3% total towards their bills going forward.
