With the pandemic has come many supply shortages. Here’s one you can help alleviate and possibly save a life in the process! The nation’s blood supply is so dangerously low, that the Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis for the first time.
The Red Cross has collected about 40% of the blood supplies used in the United States to treat those in need for nearly 75 years. Currently those supplies are down 10% though. The lowered supply is due to several factors, including staffing and supply chain issues. Due to COVID-19 fewer people are donating, and fewer organizations are hosting blood drives.
In an effort to increase blood donations and awareness of the issue, the NFL has partnered with the Red Cross and people who donate throughout the month of January will automatically be entered in the drawing for the Super Bowl tickets. The package includes Super Bowl tickets, an entry into the official NFL Tailgate, tickets to the Super Bowl experience, round-trip airfare to Los Angeles, three-night hotel accommodations and a $500 gift card for expenses. The winner can also bring a guest. More details can be found at https://www.redcrossblood.org/local-homepage/events/super_bowl.html
