Increased Coyote Sightings in Mid-Michigan

Increased Coyote Sightings in Mid-Michigan

January 20, 2022 by GJ Staff Leave a Comment

In both rural and more populated areas of Mid-Michigan coyotes have been spotted roaming near houses and neighborhoods.  According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, this is because it is their breeding season and they are searching for food and mates.

Though coyotes are not trying to hurt people, small pets and possibly also tiny children could be in danger if they cross paths.  To discourage the chances of this, avoid dumping food scraps in your backyard.  Also keep grass from getting very tall, and clear brush and rubbish piles from your yard.
