By May 9th, the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association will be issuing a $400 per vehicle refund to insurers who had valid auto insurance policies on October 31st 2021. This may lead to scammers trying to capitalize on the payments by preying on unsuspecting policy holders.
The refunds will be provided as either a direct deposit into the customer’s bank account or a printed check only. No further action is required to receive the refunds so customers should be wary of anyone requesting an application or unsolicited requests for personal information via phone.
If an unsolicited is received about an auto insurance refund, hang up immediately and contact your insurance company using the phone number on the policy statement.
